The WD_BLACK SN8100 1TB is a bare M.2 2280 NVMe SSD for high-performance PCs and laptops. This exact EU-market configuration is model WDS100T1X0M-00CMT0: 1TB capacity, black finish, and no heatsink.
PCIe Gen 5 performance
Its PCIe 5.0 x4 / NVMe 2.0 interface delivers up to 14,900 MB/s sequential reads and 11,000 MB/s sequential writes for the 1TB model. Random performance is rated up to 1.6 million read IOPS and 2.4 million write IOPS.
TLC NAND with onboard DRAM
The drive combines TLC 3D CBA NAND, DRAM and nCache 4.0. The 1TB version is rated for 600 TBW endurance, up to 1.75 million hours MTTF and a five-year limited manufacturer warranty.
Compatibility and security
The 80 × 22 × 2.38 mm bare drive fits an M-key M.2 2280 slot. It is backward-compatible with earlier PCIe generations, supports Windows 10 and later, and provides TCG Opal 2.02 security. A suitable motherboard heatsink and airflow are recommended for sustained Gen 5 workloads; a heatsink is not included.
